Animal Waste Awareness in Research and Extension

Certified Planner/Operator Training

The annual planner/operator certification training will be offered in Athens at the UGA Livestock Arena classroom on March 28-29, 2017.  Anyone wanting to write NMPs in the Georgia must attend this training.  Also all permitted operations must have a certified animal waste system operator on site.  For more information and to register for the training please click here for the flyer/registration form.


The Objectives of AWARE:

“To facilitate awareness of animal waste issues to research scientists, Extension personnel, industry representatives, and producers and to serve as a catalyst for providing economically and environmentally sound waste utilization solutions to Georgia’s animal production industry.”

AWARE is a collaborative effort of The University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Pollution Prevention Assistance Division, Georgia Department of Agriculture, and others. Those involved in AWARE include:

  • Farmers
  • Universities (UGA and others)
  • Federal Agencies
  • Agricultural Associations
  • Businesses

AWARE team members are experts in a variety of areas related to animal waste management, environmental regulations, agricultural economics, crop and soil science, water quality and agricultural pollution prevention.
